OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Governor's Advisory Council on Latin American and Hispanic Affairs wants an investigation into the deadly shooting of a teenager by a Norman police officer.
Officer Chad Vincent shot 17-year-old Richard Sanchez 13 times last month after Sanchez escaped from a juvenile detention center, robbed a convenience store and led police on a chase on Interstate 35. Prosecutors have ruled the shooting was justified because Vincent believed Sanchez was reaching for a knife.
Members of the council say they want an independent investigation of the shooting and are sending the case to the Oklahoma Human Rights Commission.
