OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The head of the state Lottery Commission says telephone calling cards that offer cash prizes may be cutting into the sales of lottery tickets.
Jim Scroggins says lottery officials are being told people who want to buy lottery tickets are being steered instead to the calling cards. Scroggins says he doesn't think anyone's been fooled, but some people feel misled.
The cards are sold primarily at convenience stores and provide two minutes of prepaid long-distance service for $1. The cards have peel-off or scratch-off areas and offer a chance to win cash prizes.
Scroggins says he hopes to meet with someone from the attorney general's office this week to discuss the issue.
