New state appeals court judge sworn in

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The first black to be named to the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals was sworn in Wednesday.

Judge David Blaine Lewis of Lawton was sworn in by state Supreme Court Justice Tom Colbert. Colbert is the first black to be named to the state Supreme Court and both men were appointed by Governor Brad Henry.

Lewis replaces former Judge Steve Lile. Lile resigned after accusations he allowed his former secretary to be paid for work she didn't perform, used court money to pay for things for her and that he made personal trips at court expense.
