KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ The current crop of Big 12 quarterbacks is a young one.
Five of this year's projected starters went straight from their redshirt seasons to the top of the depth chart. And several who didn't still saw significant action early in their careers.
Only Colorado, Baylor and Nebraska _ and possibly Kansas State _ will go with senior quarterbacks.
Texas will defend its national title with either a redshirt freshman or a true freshman under center. Redshirt freshman Kerry Meier is expected to start at Kansas. Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State will start sophomores.
