MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- Two men have been convicted on federal charges of conspiracy to manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine.
US Attorney Sheldon Sperling in Muskogee says 63-year-old Clonnie Alonzo Layman of Eufaula and 42-year-old Hong Son Nguyen of Oklahoma City were found guilty Thursday after a four-day trial.
Layman was also found guilty of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, attempt to manufacture methamphetamine and various firearms charges.
Sperling says Layman used his commercial welding business to buy large amounts of anhydrous ammonia. He bought large amounts of over-the-counter medications containing pseudoephedrine -- meth's principal ingredient -- through Nguyen, who owns a convenience store in Oklahoma City.
