SHAMROCK, Okla. (AP) _ The three-member police force in the northeast Oklahoma town of Shamrock is disbanding after officials say its officers lacked state certification.

Creek County Assistant District Attorney Mike Loeffler sent a letter notifying town trustees that none of the officers hold valid certification from the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training.

The letter was followed up by a visit from sheriff's deputies, who informed Acting Police Chief James Bland that neither he nor his officers could continue enforcing laws in Shamrock.
