OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The US Senate Judiciary Committee has approved the nomination of Oklahoma City attorney Jerome Holmes to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Committee approval sends Holmes' nomination to the full Senate for a vote and comes despite concerns from some civil rights groups about his criticism of affirmative action.
If the Senate approves the nomination Holmes would become the first black judge on the Tenth Circuit which is based in Denver.
