OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Bob Sullivan wasn't ever in the movies or a member of the Skull and Bones Society, but he sees himself in the mode of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush as he makes a race for governor his first run for public office.
The 60-year-old Tulsa Republican tells The Associated Press that unlike his opponents, he's a simple businessman.
He's running for his party's nomination against two lawyers -- Congressman Ernest Istook and state Senator James Williamson. The winner hopes to take on Democratic incumbent Brad Henry, another attorney.
Bob Sullivan stressed repeatedly that unlike his gubernatorial foes, he is not a lawyer and he blamed trial lawyers as a class for some of the state's economic troubles.
He says his business experience can right what he sees as the ship of overspending by state government and can even eliminate the state income tax over time.
