High gas prices are proving to be budget busters for many emergency agencies.

Wagoner County Sheriff Johnny Cannon says if prices get any higher, he may have to cut back on the miles his deputies travel.

Sheriff’s deputies would still respond to all emergency calls, transport prisoners and serve papers. But minor calls may simply be taken over the phone to save money on fuel.

Cannon says he'll keep an eye on gas prices and may limit travel next week. He's concerned that gas could increase to more than $3 a gallon.
