Sheriff Eddie Virden told News On 6 one of his deputy is going into surgery for a broken leg while Osage County deputies and Pawhuska police searched for the suspect, Cameron Enox.
The sheriff said sometime before 3:00 a.m. Monday a deputy tried pull over a car for a traffic stop, but the car took off starting a pursuit.
Virden said the car slammed on its brakes near St. Paul and Lynn Lane, so the deputy got out of his car. The sheriff said Enox put the car in reverse and ran over the deputy, then drove off.
The sheriff said a Pawhuska police officer was on the scene by that time and was in the street helping the deputy when Enox turned the car around and sped toward the officer and deputy.
Virden said the officer pulled out his gun and fired shots toward the car.
The sheriff said Enox got out and ran, but officers arrested a woman passenger, whose name hasn't been released.
Virden said the OSBI is on the scene and will investigate the shooting.
He said the deputy is expected to survive.
