A woman who falsely accused a Black man of threatening her life in Central Park went to court this week to answer to criminal charges.

The Memorial Day incident that birdwatcher Christian Cooper caught on camera highlighted the issue of false reports made against Black people.

In July, Amy Cooper was charged with one count of falsely reporting an incident to police.

Prosecutors revealed Wednesday that Amy Cooper made a second call that day, saying Christian Cooper "tried to assault her." When police arrived on scene, investigators say she recanted that account.

If convicted, Cooper could face up to a year in jail.
