Tulsa Police say a man is in jail after he tried to ransom a stolen car and other items.
TPD says it all happened around 8:30 Wednesday night after they got a call from the victim that his car had been stolen from a QuikTrip. The victim told officers someone stole his keys after he sat them down to wash his hands in the bathroom. Police say the victim texted his cell phone that was still in the car. They say the suspect, Jerry Kann, responded and offered to return the car for $400 dollars.
Police say Kann told the victim he would meet him at the Hampton Inn near 31st and Memorial but TPD met him there instead. Officers say they found the keys to the car in Kann's pocket and he was holding the victim's cell phone.
They say the stolen car was found at another motel nearby and has been returned to the victim.
Officers arrested Kann, and say he is now in jail on charges of possession of a stolen car and property.
