OHP Investigating After 1 Killed In Crash On I-44

Update: OHP has identified the victim as 63-year-old Russell Davis from Kellyville.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating after they said a car hit and killed a man while he was walking along I-44 in Tulsa.

The OHP said it happened around 8:30 this morning, when a man tried to cross from westbound to eastbound on I-44.

The driver was shaken up, but the OHP said the driver was cooperating with investigators.

Lieutenant Stow said these incidences are a lot more common in this area than the OHP would like them to be, as people tend to cross the highway to avoid a longer walk to one of the underpasses.

In this case, 49th West Avenue was the nearest underpass. Lieutenant Stow believes the man was trying to take the shorter route to get across the highway.
