A local substance abuse rehabilitation center is asking the community for donations on Friday and Saturday as part of their annual “12&12 Day”. The 12&12 Recovery Center holds a day of donations on December 12 every year, but this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic they have opened up their donation drive a day early.

Jen Kerckhoff with 12&12 said they have had an influx of people coming to them seeking treatment this year, which means they not only need more of their usual clothing and hygiene donations, but they need PPE as well. She said they have hired more staff to keep up with the demand, so they always need gloves and masks coming in.

This year marks the third annual 12&12 day, which is where they ask for twelve specific items to be donated by at least 1200 community members on December 12. The top needs on the list include coats, underwear, and pants. They also need hygiene products, fun things like board games or adult coloring books, and shoes.

The drop-off has been made mostly contact-free this year. They are asking people to just drive up to their donation spot, tell the employee where the donation items are in their car, and they will open your trunk or door and get out the items for you. If you would like to get them yourself, that is also welcome. If you do not feel comfortable donating in person, you can donate monetarily online by Clicking Here.

12&12 also has resources available for those who want to learn more about what they do, so they can help those impacted by addiction. There will be people at the drop-off location on the right side of the Recovery Center to answer any questions someone may have.

Kerckhoff said that this year they are in desperate need of anything they can get since so many people are checking in for substance abuse help during this unprecedented year.

“Most of our clients come here and they just have the items they are wearing,” Kerckhoff said. “We want when they are seeking recovery that they have everything to feel comfortable.”

You can drop off donations any day of the year, but the specific donation drive times are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday and until 3 p.m. on Saturday.
