After a week of gift-giving and celebrations, you may have more trash than usual and the City of Tulsa is now reminding residents how to properly discard holiday waste.

Cardboard packaging and wrapping paper can be recycled but wrapping paper that is foil or has glitter needs to be trashed. Keep recycling cans and glass jars as well as approved plastics. Styrofoam ribbons, bows, tinsel, as well as Christmas lights and ornaments all need to go in the trash.

If your tree is real, you are asked to cut it Into four-foot sections and put it along the curb on your trash day. Live trees can also be mulched at the city mulch site near Apache and 145th East Avenue. Fake trees need to go in the trash bin.
