Tulsa’s leaders plan to funnel up to $6.5 million in federal funding to local nonprofits.

This is money that's available from the CARES Act and COVID relief and is a new grant program aimed specifically at 501(c)3's in Tulsa.

Tulsa city leaders are asking for proposals for these grants. They say these requests should include how they'll use the money to help and improve the lives of Tulsans.

These will be focused on things including Tulsans' personal and financial help, development and resilience, helping to resume economic or community activity, or creating, stabilizing and growing industries and jobs.

Mayor G.T. Bynum said this is another way Tulsans are pulling together to help each other.

"We're really excited about harnessing the full power of Tulsa's nonprofit community, and all the creativity that's out there to do the best we can for Tulsans in need during this challenging time," Bynum said.

Tulsa city councilors said this program allows all nonprofits an equitable opportunity to share their ideas and receive funding.
