The search for mass graves from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre will continue.

The meeting comes months after researchers made their biggest discovery yet in Oaklawn Cemetery.

There is no word yet if what they found during the summer was mass graves but crews did find at least 12 coffins during an excavation last summer. They say those 12 coffins held human remains where anomalies had been previously detected.
Researchers have yet to determine if what they found is even associated with the 1921 Race Massacre however, the location where they found the remains has been dubbed "the Original 18 site."
The site is located next to two 1921 race massacre headstones in the historically African American section of the Potters Field.
Funeral home records and other documents for 1921 show that at least 18 identified and unidentified African American massacre victims were buried in the cemetery.
Thursday's Public Oversight Committee meeting will be held virtually starting at 5:30 p.m.
