Flo's Burger Diner on Route 66 is boarded up. They are loved for their burgers and their service to the community, and now, the owner is wondering who such a terrible thing to a business that would only wants to give back.

Brandy Adkins said her morning started with a bang as she woke up to a call that someone had broken into her restaurant.

"I saw the register was gone, and I started crying and freaking out," Adkins said.

On surveillance video, a car pulls up, a man smashes the window and in one swift motion takes the cash register and runs.

"Beelined in, grabs it and goes," said Adkins. "All of this was shattered from top to bottom."

Adkins said there was thousands of dollars worth of damage and now the window must be replaced. All this after a year of losing business due to COVID-19.

"We walk into that, it takes you down, it's like a slap in the face," she said.

The good news: people stopped by with money all afternoon.

"I would like to come by and give you a donation," someone told Adkins.

One person, Chuck Slane, even showed up with a cash register to help them.

"She appreciates a loaner register to get her back in business," Slane said.

Once Adkins opened her doors again, people showed their support by ordering burgers. She said she's grateful for such a supportive community and prays somebody will recognize this man, so he doesn't destroy another struggling business.

"I love my customers a lot, they've been the bright side," Adkins said.
