Firefighters say a dog died on Monday after an early morning fire at a Tulsa apartment complex.

According to Tulsa firefighters, the fire began around midnight at the Commanche Park Apartment complex near 36th Street North and North Peoria Avenue. The fire was confined to a single apartment, but officials said it caused significant damage to the unit.

According to firefighters, three people and a dog were inside of the apartment at the time of the fire. The three were able to get out safely, but the dog was not.

The three people were displaced by the event and the Red Cross was called in to offer help.

Firefighter say the are still working to determine what caused the fire.
