The Tulsa Public Schools Board of Education voted Monday night that students will return to full-time in-person learning for the 2021-2022 school year.

TPS plans to have students back in the classroom starting on August 19th for five days a week in-person learning and ending the school year on May 26th if everything goes as planned.

The board said this calendar option maximizes uninterrupted learning time, minimizes short weeks, includes time for professional development, preserves days off for traditional holidays and meets state requirements for instructional time necessary for educational growth.

They spoke on how they received input from more than 200 Tulsa families on what they would like to see in the upcoming school year and this plan is the outcome of that collected data.

TPS said in the meeting they are still working on the calendar to make sure the document itself is easy to read before it’s distributed out to parents.
