Tulsa Police arrested three men accused of stealing dozens of high-end cars, creating fake documents and reselling the cars in the Tulsa area.
TPD says Timofey Formozal, Vadim Formozal and Yevgeniy Krasnyuk stole or embezzled at least 57 vehicles from rental agencies all over the country.
Investigators say the men responsible were arrested and have bonded out of jail.
When detectives served search warrants at three homes in Bixby recently, they say they found cash, guns and paperwork linking the three men to the stolen car ring.
TPD said they also found 17 vehicles, including a Bentley priced at nearly $200,000 and a BMW worth more than $100,000.
Auto-theft detectives say all of the 57 cars averaged $40,000 to $50,000 totaling $2.5 million.
"I know in general we've seen an uptick in auto-theft trends, of course, most auto-thefts are one-offs, one individual stealing a vehicle, maybe a few times but nothing to this extent. This is a very unusual case and just talking briefly.. there's nothing in our memory that compares to this," TPD Maj. Richard Alexander said.
Police say they are looking for two additional suspects involved in this ring.
