Hundreds of people came out to Copan High School on Thursday evening, including friends, family and many across the community to remember Deputy Davis.
The vigil began with patrol cars riding into the vigil, with their lights and sirens on. Loved ones then prayed and read bible verses.
Deputy Davis and his wife graduated from Copan High School in 2001. Principal Toby Moreland said Davis was very athletic and played football, basketball, and baseball while in school.
Deputy Davis's patrol car was parked at the vigil, so people can stop by and remember him.

Davis was a 10-year veteran of the Washington County Sheriff's Office and leaves behind his wife and two young children.
Moreland said Davis will be remembered as a good family man, who had a great sense of humor, a joyful personality, and was a good Christian.
"He was a heck of a kid. I don't ever remember him being in trouble, he never did anything wrong,” Moreland said.
"Greater love hath no man than would lay his life down for his friends, that's what Kyle did a little over 24 hours ago.” Sheriff Scott Owen said.
Davis's family did not speak at the vigil. His funeral arrangements are pending.
