An hours-long standoff ended with multiple arrests near 46th Street North and North Peoria Avenue on Monday morning. According to police, the standoff started after an early morning car chase.

Authorities say it all started when a driver sped off after running a red light near 21st and Sheridan around midnight.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers tried stopping the car but said it continued down Highway 75. The car eventually got off on the Peoria exit and crashed between 36th and 46th Street North.

Troopers said that the driver of the vehicle is the one who was responsible for the standoff situation. They said he held a knife to his neck and threatened to hurt himself. When officers tried getting close to him, they say he kept threatening to harm himself.

After a few hours, officers were able to arrest him just before 5 a.m.
