Governor Kevin Stitt signed two bills into law that will have a big impact on education.
One of them is centered on school of choice, making it easier for a student to transfer from one district to another.
The other changes the way the state funds districts, basing the money given out on the student count from the previous year instead of the highest of the previous two years.
State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister said the change will harm rural schools, where enrollment can fluctuate based on economic factors.
