The Tulsa Fire Department was called to the scene of a burst steam pipe near East 7th Street and South Boston Avenue on Wednesday morning.

Andy Little from the Tulsa Fire Department said that crews first received a call for a sprinkler activation around 5 a.m.

According to crews, a burst pipe in the mechanical room led to a build-up of pressure in the sprinkler system causing it to go off inside of the building located at 7th and Boston.

Crews were able to shut off the springers and a representative for the company who handles the steam pipes was able to shut off the flow of steam.

Officials said that the sprinklers caused significant water damage inside of the building.

Currently it is unclear what caused the pipe to burst.
