Owasso Police: 17-Year-Old Crashes Car, Tries To Steal Another Vehicle

A 17-year-old is in custody after police said he ran through a stop sign, crashed into a car and then tried to carjack another car from a couple.

Owasso Police said it happened near 126th Street North and 129th East Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Police said after the teenager crashed, he ditched his car and tried to carjack a couple nearby, but they wouldn’t get out. They said he then ran into a nearby neighborhood and tried to get into a house.

A trooper spotted the teenager and police said it took several officers to get him into custody because he was combative and clearly under the influence of something.

“Next thing you know, he’s taking off running that way and that’s when highway patrol was coming the opposite direction and they had an altercation in the front yard with him,” witness Matthew McManus said.

The suspect and the driver in the car that was hit were taken to the hospital.
