An Osage County woman said the road she lives on is in such bad shape that she fears for her life when it rains.
She said she was terrified when her car was washed away during some flooding recently.
Dana Spencer said she's scared every time it rains of what the road will look like and if she's going to be able to make it home.
Spencer said she thought she was going to die when she was trying to drive down Valley Road near Skiatook during a heavy rain.
"I didn't think I'd see anybody the rest of my life, I thought that was the last day of my life," she said.
Spencer said she was riding with her boyfriend when the car was swept away, water started coming inside, and it was a miracle the car was finally stopped by a tree about half a mile away. She said it was terrifying, and she's so thankful they were able to get out of the car safely.
"The convenience store up the road later told us, the fire truck, the ambulance, and the policeman could not get out here to us," Spencer said.
Spencer said all the rain in recent weeks keeps making it worse. She said she's had to miss work, and even stay in a hotel because she is afraid to drive down the road when it has rained.
"A lot of water, it looks like a big pond. It's like the road disappears, and the sides of the creeks rise, and you don't know where the road begins or ends," Spencer said.
Spencer said she is begging the county to do something about the road before something tragic happens. She said they told her it was a funding issue.
"It's very frustrating knowing that the weather controls if you are going to get out or get home every day," she said.
In an effort to learn more about the roads, News On 6 called the Osage County Commissioners and are waiting to hear back.
