Monday night, Circle Cinema in Tulsa rolled out the red carpet and gave Tulsa a first look at FX's new series “Reservation Dogs.”

The series is unique, not just in what it represents - but how it does it. “Reservation Dogs” was written, directed by, and cast entirely of indigenous people.

Traci Revas with the Muscogee Nation said the premiere picks up a story often left off the silver screen.

"It's an incredible opportunity for our stories to be told from one of our own," Revas said.

Actress Devery Jacobs, who plays Elora Danan in the show, said the all-indigenous cast and crew bring authenticity to the story.

"I think it resonates throughout when their core teams that are from the communities that are trying to represent," Jacobs said.

Co-creator, executive producer and Seminole Nation filmmaker Sterlin Harjo said “Reservation Dogs” connects the country to people and landscapes familiar to Oklahoma.

Harjo grew up in Green Country and worked with Oscar-winning producer and director Taika Waititi to set and shoot the show entirely in Oklahoma cities like Okmulgee, Beggs, and Sand Springs.

"There's power in the fact that we're native and that we can tell the stories in the way we see true," Harjo said.

Circle Cinema showed the first three episodes Monday night, and the series will premiere on Hulu August 9.
