The closest friends of a father of eight killed in a car crash this week are sharing his love for his family, and his community.

They say Jesse Hixon was a hardworking man who did everything he could to provide for his big family.

Friends say he was the kind of guy who spent a lifetime serving others.

Justin Seawright has known Jesse Hixon for more than a decade after the two met as baseball coaches in Collinsville.

"Man, he's the greatest guy. The greatest guy. Biggest heart you'll ever meet in your life, Seawright said.

"He coached baseball and the funny thing is I don't know if he ever played a game in his life. But he was just a leader, he was great with kids, they listened to him real well."

Hixon was a father to eight children. Four of the kids are his own, and two years ago he adopted his brother's four children after his brother passed away.

Hixon was killed by a passing car early Wednesday morning in Broken Arrow after he got out of his truck to help after getting in a wreck.

Seawright says the worst part is that Hixon's 15-year-old son was in the truck with him during the wreck.

To Seawright, Hixon was more than a fellow coach or coworker, he was a brother.

"You know I made it a habit the past probably two to three years, for that man, and that man only, that we said, 'I love you' every time we spoke," Seawright said.

"At the end of every conversation whether it was at work, it didn't matter. In front of a thousand people, it didn't matter. I love you. And I just, I need him to hear that. He needs to hear that one more time."

Seawright has set up a donation page for the family. You can contribute through the link HERE.
