A new fire station is opening in Broken Arrow, replacing the existing BA Fire Station 3 that's been around for decades.

The new 11,000 square foot building has room for three large bays to accommodate modern fire engines and ambulances. There are six bunk rooms and two captain's bunks. The new building also has a gym with new equipment.

Broken Arrow Fire Chief Jeremy Moore said the new building is just two miles away from the existing station 3. He said the new station 3 is in a good location for future growth in the area.

“There is a lot of room for expansion down here. Our TIF (Tax Increment Financing) district is going in just down the turnpike. We’re seeing all kinds of growth and development. New neighborhoods are popping up. So this might seem like it’s out on the fringe of town at this time, but over the next five, ten, twenty years we’re going to expect major growth in this area," said Moore.

He said the new facility should be running within the next couple of weeks.
