A Broken Arrow teenager is in serious condition after police said he was hit by a suspected hit-and-run drunk driver.

Two police officers witnessed the wreck and took the driver into custody.

19-year-old Hunter Taylor was riding home from work at Buffalo Wild Wings when Broken Arrow police said he was hit by car near 101st St and Elm Place.

"He was just out there trying to make it like the rest of us, doing the best he can, he's a good kid," said Zach Pfaff with Spoke House Bicycles, where Taylor also works.

Police say William Crase was speeding down the street and swerved to pass a car in the left lane. They said he then hit Taylor and kept driving.

Two officers witnessed the wreck, and one was able to help Hunter, while the other went after Crase and pulled him over. Police said he was under the influence of alcohol.

Pfaff is the owner of Spoke House Bicycles where Taylor also works, and he said he is thankful the police were there.

"Just having that was phenomenal for all of this because it was a hit and run, so we might have never heard from him again," Pfaff said.

Pfaff said Taylor is now in the hospital in serious condition with a concussion, a gash on his head, and a fractured ankle. He said Taylor has been working at Spoke House for about eight months and brings so much joy to their business.

"He's a super nice guy, full of life, every time someone comes in, he just gets excited about helping them make their ride better," he said.

Pfaff said this is a scary situation and hope Hunter gets better soon.

He wants to urge people to always be aware of cyclists on the road.

"It's important to keep an eye out and make sure you are looking for that movement on the side of the road, it could be one of your neighbors or one of your coworkers out there," Pfaff said.

Taylor’s coworkers at Spoke House Bicycles are raising money for his medical expenses. They will have donation bins at both Spoke House locations as well as a GoFundMe link here
