Tulsa police say a man was hospitalized after he drove his car off of the Broken Arrow Expressway before coming to a stop on the road below early Thursday morning.
According to police, the driver likely fell asleep while traveling eastbound on the BA expressway around 2:30 a.m.
Police said the man drove for about 100 yards in the grass median on the expressway before traveling between two nearby overpasses. Police say he then drove down the hill beneath the overpass, hit a concrete island and eventually landed on South Sheridan Road.
According to police, the 33-year-old driver was awake and alert when they arrived and told crews that all he remembered was waking up while driving between the overpasses and crashing.
Officers say the man possibly broke his back during the crash and is expected to recover.
