Metro Sheriffs' Offices Not Requiring COVID Vaccine For Deputies

County sheriffs in Oklahoma, Logan and Cleveland counties will not require the COVID-19 vaccine for their employees. 

Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux said in a statement, "I am not pro-vaccine, nor anti-vaccine. I am pro-freedom for each person's ability and responsibility to decide for themselves." 

Devereaux said in the statement it is time for politicians and other public servants to take a stand and remember to protect the people's rights, not run their lives. 

Cleveland County Sheriff Chris Amason has also said he will not mandate the vaccine. 

Amason said in a statement: "The Biden Administration is showing gross federal overreach and indifference for individual freedoms and states' rights." 

The Biden administration announced required vaccinations for employers with more than 100 employees. This impacts 678,122 Oklahomans. 

The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office said they employ 209 full-time employees but do not require the vaccine. 

The state of Oklahoma plans to sue the Biden administration over the president's mandate.
