School districts can apply for money to support COVID testing due to a new grant program furnished by the Centers for Disease Control.

The Oklahoma State Department of Education and the State Department of Health partnered to establish the funding.

According to a statement, districts can receive between $50,000 and $1,000,000 in grant funding.

“Through this program, we can identify COVID-19 cases quickly and early, which can help us stop an outbreak before it happens. This will help keep students in the classroom and able to take part in the school activities they love,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister in a statement.

To participate in this grant opportunity, districts must complete an application now available in OSDE’s Grants Management System (GMS) via Single Sign On. Non-public schools can gain access to GMS by completing the OMES access request form and emailing it to OMES at servicedesk@omes.ok.gov. Schools can also see a projected grant amount in GMS.
