Third-grade students at Mayo Demonstration School are using their newfound knowledge of dogs to give back to the community.
Students have been reading and learning about dogs and ways dogs and humans can help each other. Thursday, they put on a service event to help people in the community.
“We like to do service-learning projects at Mayo, so we thought what better way to give back than to do a dog wash and dog walk,” Lisa Sander with Mayo Demonstration School said.
Students collected money, dog toys, beds and treats for their services. The donations will then be given to a rescue or shelter that the students will choose.
