Monday, a homicide investigation at a Tulsa apartment complex. The shooting happened near 61st and Peoria as some people were heading to work around 9:30 a.m.. Officers said they're confident several people saw the shooting happen so they're hoping someone will come forward with information that will lead to an arrest.
Officers and detectives said an argument led to a deadly shooting at the Newport Shores Apartments near 61st and Peoria. "It's sounding like there was some dispute of some sort and it turned into a big disturbance. It was big enough to where other people in the complex actually heard the disturbance going on," Officer Andre Baul said.
Tulsa Officer Andre Baul said police received several calls about the disturbance that quickly turned deadly. "Which prompted, you know, people to start gathering around but not everybody saw what happened. A lot of people heard it. People heard gunshots and then that's when we got called," Officer Baul said.
Officer Baul said they found the 51-year-old victim with a gunshot wound lying near his own apartment. "We're still trying to figure out exactly where this actually occurred at because it was in the vicinity of his apartment. I don't want to say it was at his apartment. It was in the vicinity of his apartment," Officer Baul said.
Police and paramedics tried to save his life, but the man died at the hospital. Officer Baul said the shooting happened during the day with several people around. Officers are checking to see if there are any security cameras in the area, but believe witnesses are their best hope at finding the shooter.
"More than a few witnesses to this so they all are going to be taken down. They all are going to be interviewed and hopefully, we'll be able to find out more a little bit later right now that's all we have is just that. We know that a man was shot, but we don't know by whom," said Officer Baul.
