The Community Service Council of Eastern Oklahoma’s 2-1-1 hotline is helping families in need of a meal this holiday season with resources close to them.

Organizers say this can be a hard time of the year when many people and families are wondering where their holiday meals will come from. Anybody In need of a meal for Thanksgiving or Christmas can call and be connected to someone who will ask for an address to look up. The representatives will find the closest resources available in the area for free holiday meals.

The hotline works for people living in Tulsa and surrounding areas. Organizers say they have been getting calls about the upcoming holidays since the start of this month.

“We don’t want any family to stress about where they’re going to get their meals this holiday,” said Jeromee Scot, a spokesperson for the Community Service Council. “This year has been tough for everyone and we want to try and make the holiday time as joyful and as stress-free as possible.”

Organizers say many food pantries will require registration and planning so it is better to call now instead of waiting until the last minute for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
