Tulsa firefighters say a woman is in the hospital and a dozen units are impacted following a fire at an apartment complex near 61st and Peoria. The fire was mostly on the first floor but quickly began spreading to the second level.

Firefighters say it took a while to knock the flames down and get things under control. A woman had to be taken to the hospital because of all the smoke.

Captain Kayle Greiman says 12 units in the complex are now uninhabitable because of fire and smoke damage. It is estimated nearly 20 people have been displaced.

"We've been doing what we could to get them blankets," said Capt. Greiman. "We've asked for the Red Cross to come to the scene, they're going to provide some food, clothing and shelter for folks who need it."

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
