Though hundreds of flights were canceled on Christmas Eve, only two flight connections in Tulsa were canceled.
The airport had some long lines for arrivals outside the airport, and at baggage claim, and by afternoon, most of the departures were already outbound.
Betty Kidder arrived from Detroit. “Once the two hours passed in line, everything was real smooth,” she said. Many families were reuniting at the curb, gathering up their luggage and presents to go home.
Darryl Hoover arrived from Florida, and while he wasn’t delayed, he saw plenty of travelers who were. "The board was riddled with them for a couple of other airlines, but not for us," said Hoover.
Most of the issues Friday were with United and Delta Airlines, and many American passengers said they didn't even notice. “No delays, no cancellations, no neither,” said Crystal Higgs. Judy Orihella, from Fort Lauderdale, said one of her connections was delayed, but she arrived in Tulsa a few minutes early. Betty Kidder said she was pleasantly surprised to arrive in Tulsa, on time. “Everything was perfect, couldn't ask for anything, and the weather is perfect, here in Tulsa.”
