Hawthorne Elementary Receives A New Basketball Court

Hawthorne Elementary School has a new outdoor basketball court.

Representatives from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Rumble the Bison and Devon Energy held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 18 to dedicate the court.

TPS Superintendent, Deborah Gist said it is exciting for the kids.

"We want our students to be physical it's good for their physical and mental health for them to be out playing. it's also amazing for their brain development so having a court like this makes it even more special," said Gist.

Students at the school also learned some new basketball skills from some Thunder Youth coaches. They also received a book from the Rolling Thunder Book Bus.
