One of Oklahoma's own has been tapped to coach an all Native American bull-riding team during the Professional Bull Riders Global Cup.
Teams with the PBR's Global Cup are riding for the pride of their country. It's a nation viruses nation event.
Each of the teams has five riders that are divided up by their countries and each team wants to end with a win so they can say their country has the best bull riders in the world. Plus, there are thousands of dollars in prizes at stake.
This event will also include an all Native American team called "Team USA Wolves," which is being coached by Ryan Dirteater.
Dirteater, also known as the "Cherokee Kid," is a Cherokee citizen from Hulbert who rode for the team three years ago.
He retired from the PRB in 2020 and qualified for 12 PBR World Finals over his 13-year career as a professional bull rider.
In addition to the Team USA Wolves, the US will have a team a non-native team, Team USA Eagles, who won the cup in 2021. Australia, Brazil and Canada also have teams.
The PBR Global Cup will take place on March 5th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
