We have a happy ending to a story that began right after Christmas when someone stole an 86-year-old woman’s car from the Osage Casino parking lot.
Her car was recovered today after being found by her grandson, thanks to dozens of tips on social media. Helen Anderson was at the Osage Casino after Christmas when she realized she had lost her keys, then she went out to the parking lot and found her car had been stolen. For Helen, the thieves didn't just steal her car, they also stole her independence.
She had just retired from her full-time job a few months ago and still does everything for herself. She's been pretty much locked up in her house for the last month without a way to get out and run errands.
We talked to Helen's grandson this afternoon after he found her car and he's so happy.
“The support and just call the kind messages we got from everybody on social media from people we don't even know was really great and encouraging for me and my family to see and know that so many people were out there trying to help us. Like I said we got so many messages with information. People really wanted to help us get grandma's car back. We are so excited we were able to end the day by doing that,” said Helen’s grandson Jesse Anderson.
Osage Nation Police tell me they have also identified the two persons of interest in this case and investigators will be talking to them. If any arrests are made we will pass that information along.
