Tulsa Public Schools will close all campuses and district office sites from Wednesday, February 2-4.
In a letter to parents, Superintendent Deborah Gist says this is a snow day closure and includes all afternoon or evening events and athletic activities. The closure will not require any changes to the school year calendar. Read the full message below.
Dear parents and families,
We have been in touch with the National Weather Service and Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency across the day. The current weather models include precipitation beginning overnight with temperatures dropping to below freezing in the early morning on Wednesday, Feb. 2. The forecast includes sleet beginning in the morning hours with snow moving in by the afternoon; we will continue to see sleet, snow, and freezing temperatures through Thursday, Feb. 3 and Friday, Feb. 4.
As I shared yesterday, when we make decisions about inclement weather, we carefully consider the safety of your family and our team along with the critical need for our students to be in school in person. Given the forecasted weather and high likelihood for hazardous road conditions, Tulsa Public Schools will be closing all schools and district office sites from Wednesday, Feb. 2 - through Friday, Feb. 4. This is a snow day closure and includes all afternoon or evening events and athletic activities. This closure will not require any changes to the school year calendar.
Out of an abundance of caution, we will also postpone this weekend’s Midtown and West Tulsa Enrollment Expo. This event will be moved to Saturday, Feb. 12 from 8:30am - 1:30pm at the Education Service Center.
We look forward to seeing you and your students back in classes on Monday, Feb. 7.
Please take care and be safe over the next few days.
Best,
Deborah
