Another round of winter weather is making its way toward Green Country.

Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:

Temps will take a tumble later in the day on Thursday as the colder air rolls across the area. A winter weather advisory will be in effect for a large part of northern OK as snow chances return overnight into Friday morning. Some accumulation and impacts to travel are likely.

Next Front

The strong arctic front rolls across northwestern OK Thursday morning and will bring falling temps into the metro midday to afternoon. Highs in the metro, nearing the lower 50s will drop into the 40s early afternoon and below freezing shortly after sunset. Locations across southeastern OK will warm into the lower and mid-60s before falling into the 40s early evening and below freezing by predawn Friday. A few areas of light precip will be possible Thursday morning along the OK-Kansas state line region. As the colder air progresses southward, a small window will exist for drizzle and sleet early evening into pre-dawn directly behind the southeastward moving front. Better chances arrive late Thursday night into early Friday morning when snow will be likely. The upper level through will be near northern OK pre-dawn with a band of snow developing across southern Kansas into northern OK. This feature is expected to move east to southeast through early Friday morning allowing for mostly all snow north and some wintry mix south of I-40. Despite relatively warm road temps the past few days, the rate of snowfall, moderate at times, will result in some travel impacts. Accumulations from 1 to 3 inches appear likely within the winter weather advisory locations. The system should be exiting northern OK midday and southeastern OK later in the afternoon with highs staying near or slightly above freezing. The weekend features slowing improving weather.

Friday Timeline

Clearing sky and light winds will bring Saturday morning lows in the mid-teens. South winds and sunshine will allow Saturday afternoon highs in the lower to mid-40s and Sunday afternoon highs reaching the mid-60s. Strong south winds are likely Sunday in advance of a fast-moving wave that brings high fire danger to western OK and a slight chance of showers and storms across eastern OK Monday evening. Springlike temps will follow into next week with afternoon highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s, possibly warmer to our west. Another progressive storm system nears our area later next week with thunderstorm chances.

Have a super great day!
