Watch: Gathering Place Hosts Spring Break Camp

Many students across Green Country are out of school this week, so the Gathering Place is hosting its own spring break.

Each day, there will be free activities for kids based on nature, art, reading, and STEAM. Vice President of Marketing and Communications Andrea Leitch says it's all made possible through the Explore and Imagine program. Each activity is based on education.

"This is the first year where we have activated 66 and a half acres of our park with just amazing activities for all ages for the whole family,” Leitch said.

One of those is Squonk, an entertainment group that tours around the country with giant purple hands. Anyone can pull strings to make the fingers move while the band plays rock music. Other activities include yoga and meditation, sing-a-longs, and interactivities based on STEAM education from wildlife, to building blocks, to storytime.

Community partners like USA BMX are hosting events, like meet and greets with champions where you can learn tips and tricks on the bike.

"It's all incredible opportunities. We're all about learning through play and so that's what spring break at Gathering Place is all about,” Leitch said.

You'll see new menu options at the Redbud Cafe and The Patio. Vista, a restaurant on the overlook of the boathouse, is reopening for the first time in two years. There's also a free shuttle option where you can park at Tulsa Community College Metro Campus and ride to the park.
