Bleachers inside of dugouts were ripped off and stolen at a Glenpool park where the Glenpool Youth Baseball program practices.
"More of an inconvenience, the kids probably don't mind as much as the parents and we do," said President Chris Neal.
Morris Park in Glenpool is home to Glenpool Youth Baseball. But earlier this week, someone stole the bleachers inside two of the fields' dugouts.
"They were able to unbolt all of those and walk out, at least a very large truck load, to say the least I mean I wouldn't be able to get that in my truck," Neal said.
Glenpool Youth Baseball President Chris Neal said he first checked with the city to see if they knew anything, but then filed a police report. He said it's almost impressive someone was able to get away with it.
"In fact, they did haul off probably, gosh I don't know, a couple hundred feet of metal bleachers bolt ins," he said.
The kids are having to stand or sit on the ground. He said he's not shocked this happened. Signs in the park were vandalized just last year. Because it's a city park, the gates can't be locked.
"Just not really surprised, if you look at any baseball facility in Tulsa, or any surrounding areas not only are the main gates locked daily, but the gate from the street would also have been locked at night, neither of which happen here," he said.
He said the park is already in pretty bad shape. They already have to play their games in Jenks, but a lot of people with the nonprofit have worked hard to make the program successful.
He said that's why it's disheartening to see this happen. "I mean.. the kids deserve better," he said.
Neal said the city did say they would replace the benches in the dugout, but they did not give him a timeline.
