Early voting begins on Thursday across Oklahoma. Several school board seats are up for grabs along with school bond propositions.

In Tulsa County, school board seats in Bixby, Jenks, Owasso, Sand Springs, Union and Tulsa Public will be decided on. Sand Springs voters will also elect a new city council member for the Ward 1 area.

In Owasso and Liberty, voters will decide on two big school bond propositions.

Tulsa County Election Board Secretary Gwen Freeman tells News On 6 they are fully staffed and ready to go for April 5’s election. Freeman says these races often have turnouts as low as 3% of the total amount of eligible voters and would like to see those numbers improve.

“Local elections are some really important things that impact your everyday life,” said Freeman.

In Tulsa County, early voting will be happening at the election board from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Election Day is next Tuesday.
