A new mural is on display at Tulsa International Airport.

It’s part of a program to encourage art projects throughout the city.

This new mural is adding a pop of color to the Tulsa International Airport. It's called "Imagine" representing kids, creativity and meaning to the city.

Carmen Taylor is the artist. She's a teacher at Sapulpa Public Schools and painted the mural during spring break.

It's one of seven art projects that were selected through the "Tulsa Creates Together" campaign.

The grant funding can be applied towards supplies, construction, artists' time, and potential programming.

Jessica Dewey is the Program and Development Manager for Living Arts of Tulsa.

She says the campaign's goal is to connect artists with local businesses.

The mural features children riding on Scissor-tailed flycatchers, the state bird.

The painting shows them playing with paper airplanes and waving the Tulsa flag.

Other projects in the works are a sticker mural, other painted murals, a large, felted textile piece, and architectural prints.

"Oftentimes we hear people say, I've got this great idea for this mural or sticker project, and I really want to bring it to life, but I don't know how, and I don't know where to put it. And so, we have created a project with the George Kaiser Family Foundation to get these artists moved into locations and working on whatever they'd like. As long as it's approachable, we're doing it,” Dewey said.

Dewey expects the six other projects to be completed within the year.
