Tulsa Police Book Subjects Related To Tuesday Morning Carjackings

Update: The Tulsa Police Department (TPD) said three teens suspected of the carjackings have been apprehended.

According to the TPD, officers received a call to the Plaza East Apartments just before midnight to investigate reports of teen subjects driving a stolen black Mercedes.

Officers said they arrived on the scene, located the car and identified three male teen subjects that matched the description from the call.

Officers detained the subjects and said a loaded pistol and prescription drugs were found in the car.

Police said detectives are still interviewing the subjects and that two were going to be booked on at least two counts of armed robbery.

Tulsa Police are searching for two people connected to a pair of carjackings that happened on the east side of town within an hour from each other. Investigators believe the two incidents are related.

Officers say they were first called to the area of 21st Street and 129th East Avenue around midnight on Tuesday morning when a husband and wife were pulling into their driveway and were approached by two people with a gun. Police say the suspects got away with the family’s car.

Authorities say an hour later they got another call about a person’s car being taken at gunpoint near 31st Street and 129th East Avenue. This time, investigators say a black Mercedes was taken from a person pulling into their driveway.

Police say when they got to the second scene, they found the car from the first carjacking parked outside. Investigators believe it was left behind because it was low on fuel.

“It’s unusual that you’re going to recover your armed robbery vehicle from earlier on another armed robbery,” said Lt. Craig LaGrone, Tulsa Police.

Officers tell us the first car was reunited with its owners after it was searched for fingerprints. Police say the second car is still missing.

Despite reports of a gun being used in the carjackings, police say no shots were fired.
