Thursday, Union high school students met with some local companies that are hiring right now.
Tegan Fouts said he already knows what career path he wants to take in the future, even before college.
"I would like to be a psychology professor. Teach at a university," said Fouts. Thursday, he learned what to write on a resume to help him stand out.
"They're not looking for super-specific stuff. They don't need the exact day, just the month and the year and how long you worked there. Some advice I learned, a cover letter would always be nice to tell them more about yourself and stuff that you do," said Fouts.
Union career advisors said many students are already part of the workforce and are looking for a chance to work at a company that can help pay for college.
"I think what you're seeing is companies taking on the model that our military has had for years which is come work for us, we're going to train you, and then we'll even pay for college. And that's what you're seeing with a lot of companies here in Tulsa and around the united states for that matter," said Jim Douthat.
Douthat said students often tell him they don't know what to include on a resume. He said there are a lot of skills students learn in high school, especially ones who are in extracurricular activities.
"We try to show them that shows worth. That shows a commitment, that shows integrity, that shows so many things that they should put on a resume and they don't feel like they should because it's not a job, but it is a job," said Douthat
